Sherman VC Firefly - My first project part I
My adventure with modeling began with Asuka model 35-009SA. The Sherman VC Firefly model was a Christmas present. I made the model twice – Yes twice. For the first time I messed up the painting – very badly.
The model was much too dark. I did not know that the base color should be much lighter than the final color we want to achieve on the model.
I also used too much mud. I was very excited about getting the model dirty for the very first time. Because of this, Vallejo Thick Mud was everywhere - and that was a mistake. Unfortunately, I don't have photos from the first unsuccessful attempt.
I
removed the old paint and mud effects with Cleanlux - acrylic remover.
It wasn't great but it worked. I just flooded the entire model in Cleanlux and
left it for a few days. Several parts have fallen off. The paint has also
fallen off - a great success.
After this treatment, the tank looked like burned…
- a machine gun on a tank tower,
- steel texture on the turret and side armor plates,
- something like a weldings marks.
After that I painted it all with red primer. I used the usual paint primer Super Color from a DIY store - cheap and good 😀
Next step - the base color - much lighter at this time.
The rest is coming soon - stay tuned!
